FAQ

What our clients commonly ask and how we answer.

How do we work together?

We require written confirmation and a deposit to begin work.

We can work from notes / emails you send over, or use telephone interviews as a way to generate raw material. We prepare a first draft in Word, often including comments and queries, and send it to you.  Based on your feedback, we revise the draft – our quote will stipulate the number of drafts we expect to do.

We will then submit a final invoice. Our payments terms will be agreed before we start work.

How long will it take?

This depends on the size of the project and my current workload when you make contact.  Start and completion dates will be agreed as part of our pre-quote discussions and included in our proposal if necessary.  I’ll let you know the best and worst case timescales before you commit to using Eagle Words.  Of course it can also depend on how quickly you can provide content and feedback.

Can we meet up?

We deal with most of our clients over the phone or via email.  However if you are in the Wolverhampton area, I am happy to meet up if required.  For larger projects I do often travel to meet clients and gather some content face-to-face.

Is it just you?

Yes, Eagle Words is a one-person business and I have over 25 years experience in business writing and training.  However, I use a network of reliable freelancers if I need a lot of content or training at short notice, all of whom I have worked with for many years.  I can also recommend top quality graphic designers, web designers, web developers and SEO professionals if you need them.

Why should I use a copywriter?

When you invest in good copy, for whatever reason, you’re not just paying someone to carry out a task. You’re buying an asset that will generate a return on that investment. Good copywriting pays for itself many times over.

Why not use someone cheaper?

Buying copy is just like buying anything else. You get what you pay for.  You can buy cheap and cheerful if you want, but you tend to reap what you sow.  Copywriting is an unregulated marketplace with no formal qualifications, therefore anyone can setup as a copywriter and undercut those who have experience under their belt.  My prices are midrange and you are buying into a lifetime of experience.

What if I'm not happy with the first draft?

Copy is revised as we go, taking into account your feedback. We offer drafts and amendments (within reason) until you’re happy with your content. At each stage of the project (or at each draft) we will take on board your comments and thoughts.before moving forward.

Do you provide free samples?

No, we don’t provide free samples.  Free work also takes time to research, structure, draft, edit, and proofread, which we need to charge for.

Who owns the copyright to the work?

You do. Once the project has been completed and paid for in full, the copyright is automatically transferred to you. However, we do ask as part of our terms and conditions that we’re able to use snippets of our previous work for our own marketing materials.
